Overcoming Stress

Where Nothing is Too Hard for the Lord!

Part II

WOMEN OVERCOMING STRESS
PART I

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God.  Philippians 4:6

Praise the Lord, Women of God. God has an answer to stress.  Many of us are experiencing a tremendous amount of stress in our daily lives. As always, God has made provision for everything that we encounter in our lives.  It is up to us to access our God given solutions in the Word of God.  We fight many battles that we don’t have to fight because God has already provided for us. We can’t avoid stress completely, but as Christians we don’t have to allow ourselves to be stressed out.

What is accomplished when we are stressed out?  Does it change situations?  It does not change anything but robs us of the quality of life that God has planned for us.  We are going to have some stress that we can’t avoid, because since the fall of man stress became inevitable.  There are some situations that are beyond our control and the ultimate answer is the Word of God.   Because the Word is God, the scripture says, “In the beginning was the word and the word became flesh and manifested itself among us.”

It is not easy to cast all our cares upon the Lord, but this is our solution to stress.  The scripture says, “He cares for us” and he does because he is a God who cannot lie.  We say to ourselves yes, but we find ourselves in a fight and in a struggle wondering how am I going to get out of this situation.  More women are in the work force now; we have fewer homemakers and women are facing more stress than in past years.

The scripture says don’t be anxious, in other words don’t worry, harness your minds and don’t allow it to stray into worrying.  It’s not easy, but it can be done because he will give us the grace to go through each and every day.  We must evaluate our lives and see if we are allowing our selves to become stressed.   The enemy loves it when we are stressed, because when we are stressed out we cannot exercise our faith.

Anxiety breeds so many things that affect our lives adversely.  We sometimes forget that the Word says that God feeds the sparrow and takes care of the lilies of the field and tells us to take no thought about tomorrow.  God is letting us know that he has everything under control and he wants us to roll all of our cares over on him.  Stress wears the immune system down and causes us to age prematurely.

The Scripture tells us to pray, petition God, and make our request known unto God.    We must remember that the fervent effectual prayer of the righteous availeth much. Women, let’s make a trade, give God the opportunity to take care of our challenges and let us refuse to be anxious and consume with anxiety.  God is the architect, engineer, and builder of all that is you.  He knows our needs and he knows our limits.  He will never lay a greater load upon us than we can bear.

Remember, Women, not all stress is bad.  Without stress there would be no challenges, no accomplishments, no success stories, no art, literature, or athletic feats.  Without stress, we would all be unproductive, unmotivated, and uncreative.  The problem is not stress but that we have too much stress.  We must find the balance between too little and too much stress.

Women of God, I pray that this message has been a blessing to you.  This is the beginning of a series that I will be sharing with you. I look forward to sharing with you again next week.
